About Us
Joel André and Georgie Márquez started Andre Marquez Architects, Inc. in 1993 in Virginia Beach, VA. The office moved to its current location in Norfolk, VA in 2002.
Joel André received his BArch from Pratt Institute in NY, and is licensed to practice architecture in New York, the Commonwealth of Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, NCARB, the National Fire Protection Association, and served as a Commissioner with the Historic Preservation Commission for the City of Portsmouth, VA. Mr. Andre was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and lived in New York before moving to Virginia in 1987.
Georgie Márquez obtained her BArch from Pratt Institute in NY, and is licensed to practice architecture in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She is active in several local and national organizations, including the AIA, NCARB, Hampton Road Chamber of Commerce, LEAD Hampton Roads, HRACRE and CREW. Ms. Márquez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and moved to New York to attend architecture school. She relocated to Virginia in 1987.
